A local woman was arrested early Sunday morning on multiple charges after she reportedly crashed into a parked car and fled the scene of the accident.

At approximately 1:50 a.m. Sunday, CPD officers were sent to the area of 13th Street and Lafayette Avenue in regards to a hit and run crash, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Upon their arrival, the officers observed a damaged parked car in the 1300 block of Lafayette and also located the suspect vehicle in a nearby alley. The officers spoke with the driver of the suspect vehicle who was positively identified as Stevona M. Tevis, 43, of 1324 Pearl St., Columbus, Harris said.

While speaking with the Tevis, the officers noted that she had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and observed that her vehicle had significant front end damage including a missing wheel, Harris said. The officers administered several field sobriety tests to Tevis and she was later transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for a blood draw.

Upon the completion of the blood draw, Tevis was placed under arrest and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of leaving the scene of an accident and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

She was released from the Bartholomew County Jail on the county’s program allowing qualifying defendants to be released without posting bond. Her bond was set at $8,500, according to jail records.
