New virtual 5k raises money for meals for health care workers

A new “Bolt For The Heart” fundraising event which started Wednesday consists of a virtual 5K whose purpose is to provide meals for the Emergency Room Healthcare Heroes, who are working to keep Hoosiers safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The fundraiser information was sent out by the Indiana State Police on Wednesday.

The money raised from this effort will purchase coffee and food from Java House Coffee and Titus Bakery, for donation to the emergency rooms around central Indiana hospitals. Those wishing to participate can register by visiting https://boltfortheheart.com/quarantine-virtual-5k/.

What is a Virtual Run? Pick a time and place that is convenient for you. Run, walk, row, or climb steps. Participants may do this on your own, with family, with a friend or even with a pet. Please follow the social distancing guidelines.

The first 100 registered participants will receive a medal and a T-shirt. Run, walk, row or climb stairs as your 5K (3.1 miles) between today, March 25 and April 5th. Track your time and then upload your time online. You may also share a photo or video of you doing your 5K on Facebook or Instagram and are asked to tag Bolt for the Heart.
