Orchids to …

• Walmart on the west side for the senior hour of shopping Tuesday morning with carts prepared and friendly and helpful staff, kudos to you all for the thoughtfulness.

• Mrs. Mitchell for being so positive to her students and families during e-learning. She really knows how to make everyone feel special!

• Whoever sent orchids to the lower paid workers, it’s definitely not my choice to possibly take a risk going outside, but when your business deems itself essential and you don’t have a lot of paid time off thank you!

• Dr. Jack Chaille at Best Friends is the best veterinary doctor ever, many thanks to him for his consistent above and beyond care!

• Ali Patberg for making Columbus proud, from city residents.

• Glenn Ferry for the excellent referendum letter.

• Glenn Ferry for the excellent, well-informed, letter about the realities of the proposed property tax increase, if approved.

• The Republic for providing much-needed guidance and accurate information in this difficult time and for making that information accessible to everyone.

• Columbus Park and Recreation for working hard to clean up Mill Race Park and the People Trails after last week’s flooding.

• Glenn Ferry for his thoughtful letter explaining why the BCSC referendum should be voted down and the administration needs to learn to budget by prioritizing expenditures and tightening their belts like the rest of us.

• Steve and crew at Williams Home Health Products, great people, great service.

• the many medical personnel who put their lives on the line all the time to help keep us all healthy.

• the many drivers, stockers, check out persons, cleaning crews, etc. who show up for work each day to keep products and services rolling to the rest of us.

• our granddaughter-in-law Carrie and her helpers for working so hard on the “mask-making” project, from Grandma and Grandad Harris.

• Steve Jasper for his letter about leadership during this crisis.

• whoever left the beautiful colored chalk messages at the entrance of the driveways on Ridgewood Drive.

• the Republic for the basketball unscramble contest.

• Greentree Senior Living staff for keeping residents fed, cared for, and safe, from Suzanne.

• Doug for bringing our groceries, from Mom.

• John and Nancy Fawin who organized a five o’clock somewhere driveway get-together on Pintail Court complete with snack bags, from your appreciative neighbors.

• all the fourth-grade students at St. Peter’s school and teachers, from Irene.

• our fearless president as he leads on despite having to wade through the swamp to do so.

• Cindy for bringing our groceries, from Dad.

Onions to …

• those who don’t realize that you shouldn’t take medical advice from a federally-elected official who thought it was a good idea to look directly at an eclipse.

• anyone who can watch the cable news network for more than five minutes and not be able to detect they’ve stopped being a news source and are a full-fledged propaganda machine meant to divide everyday Americans.

• the local business that lays off employees without letting them take vacation that they have earned.

• whoever is implementing the “screen positive” but no test protocol for this pandemic.

• Democrats putting more burden on the American taxpayers in the Rescue Bill.

• People thinking hardware stores aren’t essential — hope you don’t need to repair or replace anything.

• the school board and district who have blindly and unwisely spent millions on UDL training, materials, and new staff; this money could have gone to teacher raises.

• the current administration that spends like there is no tomorrow putting the whole country into bankruptcy generating a fake economy.

• the federal elected official for showing why his casino company ended up in bankruptcy.

• large companies that have “compassionately” offered to loan me $2,000 charging at least a 10.50% interest rate while giving me 0.10% interest return on my savings account.

• the people who move into quiet neighborhoods and let their dogs stand outside and bark nonstop.

• no one giving any consideration that people will start to lose their minds with all this isolation.

• people who need to wake up to the alarming fact that communist China makes 80% of our antibiotics.

• the president for his daily infomercial at the taxpayers’ expense.

• the Washington D.C. people interrupting local news which is more important than their propaganda.

• the SUV that blew the stop sign at 22nd Street and Franklin Street.

• the TV networks that have stopped caring about the president’s daily news conferences, so I can hear what he says and not their interpretation.

• those who say one political party doesn’t care about people dying while their own political party supports late-term abortion.

• the elected opposition party acting like crying babies, demanding things that have nothing to do with this pandemic.
