Bartholomew County reports 45 positive COVID-19 test results as of today

INDIANAPOLIS — Bartholomew County reported its largest increase in COVID-19 positive cases Saturday morning, jumping by 22 from the previous days total.

Bartholomew County now is reporting 45 positive tests, up from the 23 reported on Friday by state health officials. While the county is reporting no confirmed deaths, there is a death investigation involving a local case in which COVID-19 test results are pending, according to the Bartholomew County Coroner’s office.

Local officials said Saturday morning that Bartholomew County now has administered 564 tests, with 376 testing negative and 110 tests pending results.

The number of positives of Bartholomew County residents may include testing that was conducted out of county. Conversely, the number of total tests may also include submissions for non-Bartholomew County residents. The positive count listed below is only for Bartholomew County residents.

Nearby counties reporting statistics to the state included:

  • Jennings County: 35 positive cases, no deaths, 62 tests.
  • Jackson County: 28 positive cases, no deaths, 103 tests
  • Decatur County: 79 positive cases, four deaths, 109 tests.

The Indiana State Department of Health said 523 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories.

That brings to 3,953 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s total.

A total of 116 Hoosiers have died to date. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 19,800 tests have been reported to ISDH, up from 17,835 on Friday.

Marion County had the most new cases, at 155. Other counties with more than 10 new cases were Bartholomew (22), Boone (12), Hamilton (41), Hancock (15), Hendricks (23), Johnson (16), Lake (70), Lawrence (14) and St. Joseph (17).
