Around Town – April 17

Orchids to …

• Julia Federle for suggesting we focus on the positivity of orchids and pause the onions.

• the fantastic old train picture, from B.J. Walker.

• the administration for getting us out of the World Health Organization until they do their job.

• the administration for keeping us safe and keeping us up to date on the virus.

• Community Church of Columbus and Pastor John Bundick for making Turning Point Domestic Violence Services’ Emergency Shelter life more fun for those families who are with us.

• Drew Robertson for his letter to the editor regarding the overreach of government in regards to church services.

• Diane of Just Friends for the phone call yesterday, you made my day knowing there is someone out there who cares.

• low-paid nursing home staff who do the work every day to keep our loved ones safe.

• Wendy and John Kirts for all you do for me and the community from making hundreds of face masks, bringing food and goodies, checking in on me daily and making sure I stay safe. God has blessed me with a wonderful family and I appreciate and love them for being good examples to others.

• Mr. and Mrs. Ray King.

• to the governors and health experts who insist coronavirus testing must be ramped up before the economy can be safely opened, while the federal leader says that’s not his responsibility.

• governors from both parties for showing the American people what real leadership looks and sounds like.

• Mike, a customer at Musillami’s, for donating his 3D printed mask holders. Thank you for helping us flatten the curve, from your car hop.

Onions to …

• America for not having a socialized medical system to protect all residents, rich and poor alike.

• local government for ridiculous regulations regarding waste and adding a additional regulation without providing a receptacle, requiring people to spend money on their own to meet the requirements when many people have little or no money or are out of work.

• those who don’t know COVID-19 is called that because it was discovered in 2019 and is not the 19th version of the virus.

• those who aren’t aware a recent French study finds hydroxychloroquine doesn’t help coronavirus patients.

• the absolute most arrogant, condescending, unwelcoming club member saying certain people aren’t wanted or needed.

• those who don’t realize if the federal elected official’s opponent selects a female running mate, he is likely to do the same.

• elected officials who want to chose the welfare of the economy over the health welfare of the people.

• those who aren’t aware a study of chloroquine for coronavirus was stopped due to heart problems, deaths.

• those who aren’t aware the federal elected official is giving you your money and putting his name on it.

• those who are saying in the fall “just hold your nose and vote,” but isn’t that what we did four years ago?

• faith-based organizations and their members crying about separation of church and state now when they usually want the country to be a Judeo-Christian theocracy.

• the company sending out an email asking for donations to their employee relief fund when they have wasted millions on buying multiple properties around town and leaving them empty.

• the administration which has the tools to reopen the country, testing and protective gear, but refuses to invoke the powers that would make them available in a large enough quantity to safely open us back up.

• the administration for telling us we didn’t need masks to keep us safe, while buying them up for themselves.

Happy Birthday to …
