Letter: Rohde best man for county’s Superior Court II position

From: Fred and Kathi Armstrong

Columbus

The year 2020 has brought many changes to our way of life during this crisis. Things had to be canceled or postponed. One of which, is the Indiana Primary Election. There are usually debates, political meet and greets, fundraisers, etc. This gives one a chance to meet the candidates and to decide which one you would like to vote for. With the social distancing and the pandemic still controlling us, it is hard to know a candidate just by a yard sign.

We know all four candidates running for Judge of the Bartholomew Superior Court II. Kathi is a paralegal and worked with one in the same office for five years. All have gone to law school, all have practiced law, and all have the qualifications to be judge. However, it’s how you have handled yourself in everyday life, the problem solving ability you have in reaching a solution, the way you have advised clients when they have sought your advice, and the mindset you will have as a judge.

We have decided that our choice will be Jon Rohde. Jon has served this community well for over twenty years as a Columbus Police Officer. Jon put himself through law school while rising through the ranks of the Columbus Police Department to Chief of Police. Not an easy feat, especially while raising a young family and studying. It takes character and fortitude to do this. Jon has practiced law in federal and local courts, representing his clients in all types of cases.

Jon has integrity. It is important to know you can trust a man’s word once he has given it to you. We both have had dealings with Jon, Fred as mayor and Kathi in the law arena. Jon has the skill and personality to work with all sorts of people, and he has proven this while on the police department and in the courtroom.

Jon has a true sense of community and is willing to continue to serve. Let’s help him. Please vote for Jon Rohde for Judge of the Superior Court II on June 2, 2020.
