Columbus police officers are investigating an incident involving a juvenile who by accident shot himself while cleaning a firearm on Monday evening.
At approximately 7:10 p.m., CPD officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1900 block of Elm Street in regards to the shooting. The officers determined that a 14-year-old juvenile was reportedly helping clean firearms with family members when a handgun discharged and struck him in the hand. The juvenile was treated at Columbus Regional Hospital. The incident remains under investigation.
