It is with heavy heart the children of Janet Lee McCart (Allen) announce the passing of their beloved mother. She passed from this life peacefully at St Francis Hospital on May 16, 2020 at 5:48 p.m. at the age of 76.

Born Janet Lee Allen November 23, 1943 to parents John Wesley and Lela Myrl Baker Allen, Janet spent her childhood in Hartford, IL. She married Billy Dean McCart (of Columbus) in November 1962. Janet was the loving mother of three children and moved with her family from Illinois to Sedalia, MO in her early adult years.

After moving from Missouri to Columbus, IN in 1976, Janet became a long-time dedicated employee for Force Construction company. She has a long, long list of friends and family who will miss her dearly.

Janet was a member of NWIC and was a very active member of the Senior Center in Columbus. She enjoyed doing yardwork, gardening, playing cards and Bingo, traveling, and was very social.

Janet is preceded in death by both parents as well as brother, Howard Allen from Alton, Illinois. Janet is survived by brother, Eugene Allen (wife, Barb; children, Mike, Chris, Mary Beth) from Hartford IL, sister-in-law Candace Sivia (husband, Eugene; children, Jill and John) from Vandalia IL, and nephews David and Bart Allen (sons of Howard).

Her three children who will miss her dearly also survive her in death; daughters, Diana Burris (McCart) (husband, George Davis) of Columbus and Sandra McCart of Harrodsburg KY; and son, Greg McCart (wife, Joni) of Cincinnati OH.

Her blessed grandchildren are William McCart, Nathan McCart, and Leela McCart all from Ohio, Rachael Lawson (Burris), Zachary Burris, and Kira Burris, all from Indiana.

Her beloved great-grandchildren are Lillian and Aleeah Lawson, and Tobias Farmer.

A drive-through visitation will be held Wednesday from 11 to 12:30 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will follow. Her final resting place will be at Hawcreek Cemetery in Hope.

Janet’s love of her “fur babies” and all animals throughout her life can help be continued in this way on her behalf.
