4:15 p.m. update:
Power has been restored to the North National Road area of Columbus at about 4:15 p.m.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Duke Energy is reporting about 1,200 customers in the North National Road area are without power as of 2:52 p.m. after a circuit is believed to have locked down in a substation in the retail and commercial area, unexpectedly cutting power.
The outage starts at Middle Road and North National Road and continues east to Taylor Road, and south to 25th Street. It continues north from 25th Street to Hillcrest Drive.
A Duke crew was already working in the area, and is looking at the issue, but cannot give a time for power restoration. Some traffic lights are not operating on National Road at this time and Columbus police and other first responders are helping with traffic.
The Republic currently does not have power, but is operating on generator power.
Estimated time of power restoration is 9 p.m. today, Duke officials said, although power may be restoried earlier depending on circumstances.
