COLUMBUS
Richard L. Cox, 75, of Columbus, IN passed away July 8, 2020 at his home. Mr. Cox retired in 2009 after working for Cummins Inc. for 33 years. He worked at Bendix Corporation in Franklin for 13 years. He was a member of Columbus First Assembly, an Army veteran and fought in Viet Nam. He was a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge #514, Greenwood.
Mr. Cox was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, April 25, 1945 the son of Richard Lloyd and Renia Mae Miller Cox. He married Carroll Ann Green August 6, 1965 in Herndon Heights, West Virginia.
Survivors include his wife Carroll of 54 years; daughter, Terri Ann Hurd (Jeff); two grandsons, Blake Richard Hurd and Connor Jon Hurd; two sisters, Betty Stone (Steve) of Lake City, Florida, Margie Stephen of Indianapolis; brother, Lloyd Cox (Shirley) of Whiteland; two sister-in-laws, Beulah Reed of Greenwood and Thelma Acord, of Slab Fork, West Virginia; family friends, Joan Milano (Bob – deceased) of Erie, Pennsylvania, Polly Maloney (Bud- deceased) of Lexington, Kentucky, and many nieces and nephews.
Richard’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons, Blake and Connor.
A special thanks to his nurse, Susie Wagner, and aide, Debbie Aldridge with Our Hospice of Indiana.
In keeping with Mr. Cox wishes cremation will take place.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Barkes, Weaver and Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Rick Glowacki officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call for visitation on Sunday from 2:30 p.m. till time of services.
