Orchids to …

• John Robert Lewis, for his service to this country, in so many ways.

• John Lewis for 60 years of death-defying dedication to equal justice for all Americans.

• people who realize there is no way to safely restart schools in person, eLearning is the only way to keep our students, teachers and community safe.

• Leo Morris, the guest columnist who gave us a history lesson on the naming of Indiana as a state and for the dose of common sense.

• mask-wearers who understand that masks are the path to people keeping their jobs and the country opening back up again permanently.

• the police dog that has done great work, more than most people ever will, wishing a speedy recovery and long life.

• those who support our police and police dogs.

• the staff of The Republic for printing my orchids and onions and the great job you do with the paper.

• Doug Southern and his crew for the excellent job and fair price on my roof, from a repeat customer, thank you so much.

• those who understand that opening schools in person will inevitably lead to a spike in cases and unnecessary suffering in our community.
