After two executions in our state last week, my heart is hurting. I feel ashamed of belonging to a state and nation that willingly collaborates with murder. This action is in total opposition to my understanding that mutuality, community, and love are at the helm of Christianity (and most other faiths). I am a dedicated opponent of lethal injection and activities of powerful and petrified institutions using violence as punishment for violence. This does not allow for healing of the victim nor healing of our world. Where is the compassion and justice? It seems to be lacking today in so many areas.
