BROWN COUNTY
Gerald “Dean” Henderson, 71, a resident of Brown County, passed from this life unexpectedly at 3:59 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Department.
Dean was born July 6, 1949, in Franklin, Indiana, the son of the late Hubert E. and Alice McGahan Henderson.
Dean graduated from Nashville High School. Dean had many jobs in his working career, and he was the master of “jack of all trades”. At one time, he was the town marshal in Trafalgar, worked for the Copple’s Wrecker Service for seven years, was a stone mason and currently was an inspector at Phoenix.
Dean enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing the guitar and singing. One of his favorite pastimes was playing with his German Shepherd, Smokey.
Dean is survived by his wife, Rhonda Henderson; children, Candy Henderson of Brown County, Brian (Adelena) Henderson of Anderson, Indiana and Jeremy (Georgeanna) Roberts of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Gavin and Kaylyn Roberts and Eddie and Jonathan Isley; three great-grandchildren and one expected to arrive in February; half-brother, Bill Henderson of Decatur, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Glenn and Ray Henderson; half-brother, Bob Henderson; and sister, Doris Brock.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2020 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Nelson Lee officiating. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
We do ask that visitors follow social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
Dean will be laid to rest at the Melott Cemetery in Brown County. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray final expenses.
