Jets capture Classic
HOPE — All three times Hauser and Edinburgh had met this season, the Jets won both doubles positions, only to see the Lancers sweep the singles spots.
Edinburgh was without No. 2 singles player Travis Jones on Saturday, and Hauser was able to win that position to claim a 3-2 victory in the championship match of the Hauser Heritage Days Classic.
Eli Miller beat Ian Buchanan 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for the Jets (5-8). Hauser’s Caleb Hoover and Levi Gollmer downed Cash Cunningham and Austin Brockman at No. 1 doubles, and Carson Rose and Dawson Paul topped Trevor Moon and Braedyn Johnson at No. 2 doubles, both by 6-2, 6-3 scores.
For the Lancers (7-7), Max Blandford (E) beat Caleb Wallace 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Chase Littlejohn defeated Noah Estes 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Both teams advanced to the final with 3-2 semifinal wins, Hauser against Trinity Lutheran and Edinburgh against Morristown.
Eagles stop Spartans
SHELBYVILLE — Brown County won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 win at Southwestern (Shelby).
Nolan Patterson beat Tristan Pappano 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Josh Miller downed Caleb Pappano 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Aidan Burt blanked Ty Burnham 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (10-7). John Oliver and Eli Sichting topped Josh Swift and Carter Snepp 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
Brown County’s Noah Cochran and Spencer Blee fell to Grant Emerick and Matthew Clements 7-6 (5), 2-6, (10-8) at No. 1 doubles.
GIRLS SOCCER
North downs Cougars
GREENFIELD — Jenna Lang netted two goals and two assists to lead Class 3A No. 9 Columbus North to a 4-2 win at Greenfield-Central.
Lauryn Whitley added a goal and an assist, and Lauren Barker scored a goal for the Bull Dogs (12-1-1), who scored the first four goals and led 4-1 at halftime. Claire Lyvers had two assists, and Alexa McKinley added an assist.
North’s Mallory Gilley recorded three saves.
East splits pair
GREENWOOD — Columbus East split a pair of games in the Center Grove Tournament, beating Terre Haute North 2-1 and falling to Center Grove 7-2.
Sydney Berkemeier and Alana Dwenger goals against Terre Haute North. Maggie Mathews had an assist, and Anna Liimatta posted seven saves.
Dwenger and Ruth Federle scored the goals against Center Grove for the Olympians (10-5). Abby Miller had an assist, and Liimatta recorded 10 saves.
Vikings top Eagles
NASHVILLE — Brown County came away with a 10-1 Western Indiana Conference loss to West Vigo.
Tori Klakerer scored the goal for the Eagles (0-10, 0-7). Sarah Callahan posted 29 saves.
Trinity blanks Austin
SEYMOUR — Kailene Cockerham netted three goals and an assist, and Flossie Cooper added two goals and an assist to lead Trinity Lutheran to a 7-0 win against Austin.
Emma Myers had one one goal and three assists, and Sarah Lemming added one goal and one assist for the Cougars (5-4), who outshot the Eagles 35-4. Genesis Munoz and Samantha Emzinger each played a half in goal and recorded two saves apiece.
BOYS SOCCER
Bull Dogs go 1-1
ZIONSVILLE — Columbus North split a pair of matches in the Zionsville Classic, beating Class 3A No. 12 Munster 5-3 and falling to Fort Wayne Dwenger 1-0.
Nathan Imlay netted two goals against Munster, and Aidan Whitley, Ian Jackson and Mikasi Takemoto all scored once. Will Holliday, Marco Figueroa and Nathan White had assists. Munster outshot the Bull Dogs 27-16, with North’s Colvin Iorio recording eight saves.
The Bull Dogs (5-4-5) outshot Dwenger 16-8, but the Saints scored the game’s lone goal in the 12th minute. Iorio posted three saves.
Panthers tie Woodmen
NORTH VERNON — Jennings County led 2-1 for most of the second half but Greenwood scored in the final seven minutes forge a 2-2 tie.
Keaton Miller and Ian Sawyer scored goals for the Panthers (4-8-2). Goalkeeper Draegan Ison and Layne Suhre had assists.
Ison finished with 11 saves.
Eagles fall to Vikings
NASHVILLE — Brown County, playing its fourth match in five days, came away with a 5-2 WIC loss to West Vigo.
Jackson O’Shea and Aiden Fox scored the goals for the Eagles (2-7, 2-4). Cameron Payne and Aidan Norcutt had assists.
Wyatt Fox recorded four saves in 55 minutes, and Jake Huddleston added three saves in 25 minutes.

Jennings, East run
BEDFORD — Jennings County’s boys finished sixth, and Columbus East’s girls took seventh in Bedford North Lawrence’s Ted Fox Invitational.
The Panther boys scored 149 points in a meet won by Floyd Central with 38. Gavin Hendrix led Jennings with an 11th-place finish in 16:29.86, while Lane Elsner was 30th (17:07.34), Brenden Baker 32nd (17:15.22), Ian Campbell 27th (17:24.06) and Drew Stroud 40th (17:26.94).
Bloomington North edged Floyd Central 50-53 to win the girls meet. East finished seventh with 214 points, and Jennings was ninth with 264.
Chloe Krueger finished 21st in 20:28.14 to lead the Olympians. Laurel Knight took 44th in 21:32.49, while Jordan Spurgeon was 50th (21:49.99), Olivia Shoaf 70th (22:36.03) and Carly Otte 73rd (22:50.00).
For the Panthers, Halle Franks finished 37th in 21:12.87, while Liz Wahlman was 56th (22:04.67), Elizabeth Evans 58th (22:09.75), Grace Gambrel 78th (23:06.22) and Sarah Poole 102nd (24:57.94).
Hauser boys second
HOPE — Ryan Ault won the boys race, and Hauser’s girls finished second in the Hope Heritage Days Classic.
Indy Genesis won the girls meet with 16 points to 47 for the Jets and 77 for Edinburgh. Eastern Hancock took the boys meet with 38 points to 44 for Blue River Valley and 57 for Hauser.
Ault finished in 17:52. Hauser’s Alex Bower took seventh in 19:28, while Tanner Ault was 11th (19:56), Colin Kistler 12th (19:59) and Aiden Cheshire 38th (24:40).
For the Jet girls, Amanda Steward finished seventh in 25:15, while Reiss Kistler was 12th (27:25), Addison Jones 13th (27:29), Kaitlyn Everroad 14th (28:25) and Tammy Essex 16th (29:50).
Briana Tomlin led the Lancers with a 17th-place finish in 30:43. Alanna Hobbs took 19th in 33:15, while Chloe Greathouse was 20th (33:31), Elleena Dayton 23rd (41:02) and Trisha Kramp 24th (41:28).
Edinburgh’s lone boys runner, Noah Detling, finished 16th in 20:23.
Eagle girls second
MADISON — Brown County’s finished second in the Gold Division of Shelbyville’s Golden Bear Invitational. Indian Creek scored 40 points to 45 for the Eagles.
Abby Fleetwood (19:33) and Hadley Gradolf (19:37) were the top two Gold Division finishers. Emelia Koester took eighth in 20:46, while Lexie Austin was 22nd (22:19) and Madalyn Purlee 24th (22:30).
The Eagle boys finished sixth with 135 points in the Gold Division, which was won by Danville won with 75. Chase Austin took second in 16:33, while Rhett Silbaugh was 28th (18:40), Cord Smith 32nd (18:55), Waylon Patrick 36th (19:14) and Cameron Fox 37th (19:15).

Eagles rally for win
BRAZIL — Brown County twice rallied from one-set deficits to pull out a 22-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 15-11 WIC win at Northview.
Londyn Koester led the Eagles (9-8, 3-3) with 24 digs and six aces. Mary Rygiel pounded 11 kills, Abigail Bowman recorded 16 assists and Abigail Watson had three blocks.
Also for Brown County. Milly Patrick notched eight kills, 15 digs and two aces; and Abigail Angebrandt and Lauren Akles each added six kills. Rygiel tallied nine digs and two aces.
Trinity wins invite
SEYMOUR — Class A No. 1 Trinity Lutheran swept New Washington 25-12, 26-9; Mitchell 25-6 25-6 and West Washington 25-8, 25-5 to win its own invitational.
Kennedy Hoffman pounded 25 kills, Bailey Reynolds recorded 62 assists, Kamzi Gross notched 24 digs and Stella Kleffman served eight aces to lead the Cougars (23-3).
Also for Trinity, Sydney Jaynes tallied 23 kills, and Bailey Tabeling added 15 kills. Kennedy Hoffman posted 15 digs, Reynolds and Elly Carter each had eight digs and Reynolds and Gross each served four aces.

Panther duo competes
INDIANAPOLIS — Two Jennings County golfers who had qualified for the Roncalli Regional as individuals saw their seasons come to an end.
Alexis Carson shot 86, and Sophia Curry had a 90 at Smock. The fifth-and-final individual qualifying spot to state was a 78.

Cougars claim victory
GREENSBURG — South Decatur overcame five turnovers, but held Springs Valley three times inside the 30-yard line in the fourth quarter to hang on for a 12-6 victory.
Clayton McNealy scored on a 14-yard run on the Cougars’ second possession, and Kelby Shook had an 82-yard interception return for a touchdown, and South Decatur (2-1) led 12-0 at halftime.
The Blackhawks scored in the third quarter to cut the lead to 12-6, but the Cougars turned them away in the fourth quarter.
“It was weird,” South Decatur coach Rick Zimmerman said. “I’ve never seen a game like it. In 35 years of coaching, I’ve lost a couple games that I feel like we should have won, and 99 percent of the time with five turnovers, you’re going to lose. But our defense was outstanding.”
Tiger Cubs top Eagles
GREENCASTLE — Brown County trailed only 7-0 at halftime, but Greencastle pulled away in the second half to hand the Eagles a 48-14 WIC loss.
Kody Walsh scored on runs of 18 and 4 yards for the Eagles (3-3, 1-2). Hunter Funkhouser ran in a 2-point conversion.
“We just didn’t play well,” Brown County coach Randy Minniear said. “We have to do a much better job of tackling and getting where we should be. We have to just continue to get better at what we’re doing.”
