COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Nita Jo Basey, of Columbus, passed away into her Lord and Savior’s loving arms on September 25, 2020, after a long battle with kidney disease.
Born June 25, 1947, in San Angelo, Texas, Nita was the daughter of Jo and Bill Stasney. She grew up in Texas and was always proud of where she was from.
In 1975 Nita married Jim Basey and moved to Indiana. She was the rock of her family. She was always there to take care of anybody that needed a hand or a shoulder to cry on. Nita retired from State Farm Insurance Claim Office after many years of service. She was a member of the East Columbus United Methodist Church.
Nita is survived by a son Jerry Hunt and a daughter Chris Hunt, both of Columbus; A brother Billy Stasney of Aurora, Colorado and many family members and special friends spread throughout from Indiana to Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim Basey and special son-in-law David Taskey.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 Friday at Garland Brook Cemetery with Rev. Charles Aigner officiating. Memorial contributions in honor of Nita Jo may be made to the East Columbus United Methodist Church 2439 Indiana Avenue Columbus, Indiana 47201
