COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Lois Ann Newland McGathey, 86, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 3:30 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2020 at her home.
Mrs. McGathey was born April 20, 1934, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Seth and Grace Clark Newland. On June 26, 1952, Lois married Lee McGathey; he survives.
Mrs. McGathey was the office manager and bookkeeper at Kirr, Marbach & Company in Columbus retiring after 27 years of service.
Mrs. McGathey was a faithful member of The Rock and a very active member of the Columbus, Indiana Area Emmaus. She was the best wife, mom and grandmother.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband of 68 years, Lee McGathey; children, Randal McGathey of Boston, Massachusetts and Linda Leszcynski of Columbus; son-in-law, Tony Leszcynski of Columbus; grandchildren, Grace McGathey, Claire (Eric) Shappell, Joe Leszcynski, Sara (Jake Maggard) Leszcynski and Michael (Edina Bailey) Leszcynski; great-grandchildren, Kameron, Charlotte, Xander, Irelynn and Anders; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McGathey was preceded in death by her parents, Seth and Grace Newland and her sister, Carol Perry.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at The Rock, 3990 Rocky Ford Road, Columbus, Indiana 47203; the Reverend Brian Buterbaugh will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Rock or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 East 17th Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201, cards are also available at the funeral home.
