COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Melissa R. Greene Hinton Barrix, 39, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Melissa was born November 27, 1980, in Decatur, Illinois, the loving daughter of Nathan B. and Judy A. (Aldridge) Greene.
Melissa was a homemaker and always had a smile on her face.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her parents, Nathan and Judy Greene of Columbus; her husband, Joel E. Barrix of Columbus, whom she married August 8, 2015; daughters, Madilyn Hinton of Columbus and Tabitha Barrix of Columbus; stepdaughter, Hailey Barrix of Columbus; brother, Scott (Lauri) Greene of Elwood, Illinois; grandmother, Carol Aldridge of Maroa, Illinois; mother-in-law, Barbara Barrix of Columbus; brothers-in-law, Bob (Lindsey) Barrix of Covington, Kentucky, Dr. Scott Barrix and his wife, Patricia Ghuman-Barrix of Columbus and Mike Barrix and his fianc?, Julia of Battle Creek Michigan; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Melissa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold and Ruth Greene and Bennie Aldridge; and her father-in-law, Charles Barrix Jr.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. (Noon) Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Shane Rocker will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. We do ask that visitors follow social distancing guidelines and masks are required once inside the funeral home. The family requests that the dress attire be casual.
Melissa will be laid to rest at the Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to an education fund for Madilyn and Tabitha; please make your check payable to Melissa’s father, Nathan B. Greene, cards are available at the funeral home.
