City to begin fall loose leaf program

Residential loose leaves will be collected curbside in Columbus the same day as a customer’s trash collection, beginning Oct. 12 and continuing through Dec. 18. Leaves need to be curbside by 7 a.m. the day of trash collection.

Residents are asked not to place leaves in the street as the material clogs storm drains when it rains, causing flooded streets.

Leaves will not be collected if they are in bags. Those who choose to bag leaves as compost material may bring it to the 720 S. Mapleton St. composting site, next door to the Columbus Department of Public Works, where the bags may be emptied and then reused.

Fall sweeping will begin Oct. 26 through Dec. 8. For a full schedule, visit columbus.in.gov/Dept. of Public Works.
