INDIANANPOLIS — Vice President Mike Pence canceled a planned trip to Indiana on Friday to vote early because of scheduling problems, his staff said.
Indiana’s former governor was scheduled to visit Indianapolis, where he is registered to vote, to cast his ballot in person along with his wife, Karen Pence.
Pence was in Arizona campaigning Thursday when the postponement was announced.
“The Vice President’s trip has been postponed,” his office said in a statement. “The Vice President looks forward to rescheduling this trip in the near future.”
Pence’s office said the changes weren’t related to illness.
“Nobody’s sick. There’s no positive tests,” his office said in a statement. “The VP is planning on traveling on Saturday and Monday. We’ll have more information on the vice president’s schedule next week soon.”
The office said Pence tested negative for COVID-19 on Thursday morning. His staff said the change was meant to prevent burnout given his weekend schedule, travel plans next week and late-night arrival back in Washington, D.C., on Thursday evening.
Pence is scheduled to make campaign stops in key swing states Florida on Saturday, Ohio on Monday, and Wisconsin on Tuesday.
