State: 1,945 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health today announced that 1,945 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at the state laboratory, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories. That brings to 133,411 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 3,555 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 21 from the previous day. Another 227 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 1,474,639 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 1,463,436 on Friday. A total of 2,306,562 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26.

Bartholomew County reported 1,273 positive tests (up nine) with 57 deaths (no change) on Saturday.

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 907 positive cases (up 17) with 10 deaths (no change).
  • Jennings County: 337 positive cases (up two) with 13 deaths (no change).
  • Decatur County: 476 positive cases (up two) with 39 deaths (no change).
  • Shelby County: 719 positive cases (up seven) with 29 deaths (no change).
  • Johnson County: 2,646 positive cases (up 41) with 127 deaths (up one).
  • Brown County: 119 positive cases (up four) with three deaths (no change).
