County commissioners approved installing buttons in each of the 15 offices at Bartholomew County Governmental Office Building, at a cost of $8,000, to link employees directly with police should a dangerous situation arise.

An Indiana University study found North Vernon to be the fastest growing city in Indiana, growing by almost 65% between the 1990 national census and July 1994.
