Stanley Frederick Torwelle, 69, passed away Saturday, October 17. Known to his family and friends as Stan, he was born November 21, 1950 in Rising Sun, Indiana to Frederick and Nellie Torwelle.

He graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1968. After Technical School, he began his career at Cummins in the HVAC department.

Stan worked at Cummins for approximately 35 years and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He loved sports of all kind, especially the IU Hoosiers. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and watching Westerns; but above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He enjoyed helping with and coaching Lassie League softball in North Vernon for several years while his daughters were playing.

Stan will be remembered for having a big heart. He always wanted to go out of his way to help people and put others before himself.

Survivors include his daughters, Angie (Don) Miller, and Stacy (Jesse) Moore; grandchildren, Brady and Harper Miller, and Bryson and Julia Moore; sister, Betty Gridley; and brother, Carl (Ruth Ann) Torwelle.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral Service for Stan will be held Friday, October 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Dewberry in Cross Plains, Indiana. Friends may call one hour prior to the service time at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 22 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Myers-Reed Funeral Home in Columbus.
