COLUMBUS
James “Brian” Armstrong, 42, of Columbus, passed away at 10:39 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2020 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Brian was born July 16, 1978, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of James Michael and Janie Sue Land Armstrong. On December 30, 1999, he married Sarai Nunez.
Brian graduated from Columbus East High School and served four years in the United States Marine Corp. He was honorably discharged October 16, 2004. He then went on to graduate from Arizona Western College. He most recently worked at Act Research as Information Systems Manager. Brian loved computer programming, building computers and playing video games. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his children.
Survivors include his wife, Sarai; children, James Brian Armstrong, Jr., Angelica Josee Armstrong; brother, Richard D. (Jennifer) Fields, Jr. of Columbus; nieces and nephews, Rebecca Armstrong, Emmett Armstrong, Rohan McWilliams and McKenzie Fields.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janie Sue Fields (6-4-2019), father, James Michael Armstrong, step-father, Richard D. Fields, Sr. (1-13-2019) and brother, Thomas Scott “Skaught” Armstrong (2-4-2019).
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the children’s education fund, checks payable to Sarai Armstrong.
