COLUMBUS, Ind. — The number of early-vote ballots cast at FairOaks Mall for the Nov. 3 presidential election surpassed 1,000 for the second consecutive day on Saturday as Bartholomew County voters continue to turn out in record numbers.

A total of 1,084 people voted at the former Carson’s space at FairOaks Mall on Saturday, the highest one-day total so far during this election’s early voting period.

That raises the total 13,213 early in-person votes since early voting started Oct. 6, said Bartholomew County Clerk Jay Phelps.

Overall, 19,133 total votes have been cast, or nearly 36% of all registered voters in the county. By comparison, a total of 33,198 people voted in the 2016 presidential election, or roughly 60% of registered voters, according to county records.

Due to the high turnout, election officials added a third voter check-in station and two voting machines at FairOaks Mall on Saturday, raising the total to 10 voting machines, Phelps said.
