Dorothy F. Slate, 86, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at home surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born on February 14, 1934, in Irvin, Kentucky, the daughter of Omar and Nannie M. Floyd Crouch. On April 25, 1959, she married James G. Slate.
Mrs. Slate enjoyed reading and playing games when she had the chance. She cherished spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy was still able to play kickball, at the age of 70, with her grandchildren! Her chili and goulash dishes were favorites amongst the family.
Survivors include her children, David (Michelle) Slate of Connersville, Lisa (Jesse) Johnson, Rebecca Slate, Mark (Denise) Slate, all of Columbus; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby (Liz) Crouch of Louisville, Kentucky, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; twin babies, John and Mary; brothers, Ferris and Wayne Crouch.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Ron Bridgewater officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
