EDINBURGH — Two Edinburgh employees are part of an investigation into former town manager J.T. Doane’s under the table payments to an employee of the town’s electric department.

An affidavit detailing information the town has about the payments was released Thursday. It was included in a certified letter sent to Doane to ratify the Edinburgh Town Council’s decision to fire him last week.

The affidavit says two employees of the electric department knew about the payments, but the town is not sure yet how much they knew and when they found out, said Dustin Huddleston, the town’s attorney. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

One of the two employees who are part of the investigation resigned Friday. The other is still employed, Huddleston said.

Doane allegedly paid the employee $480 a month from March to September. Doane paid the employee a total of $2,880 from his personal bank account, but it is still not clear what he was paying for.
