The Kansas City Royals, who signed Columbus East graduate Peyton Gray last month, have assigned the right-hander to their Triple-A Omaha affiliate.
Gray, who was in the Colorado Rockies organization in 2018 and 2019, spent this summer helping lead the independent Milwaukee Milkmen to the American Association championship.
The 25-year-old Gray did not allow a run in 32 innings in the regular season. He went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 56 strikeouts in the regular season to earn American Association Relief Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.
