Austin Pulkowski // Columbus North senior cross-country runner
Pulkowski finished 16th in 16 minutes, 3 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) in the state finals to earn All-State honors and help lead the Bull Dogs to the team championship.
His performance last week: “I feel really good about it. It proves how hard I’ve worked.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I have Fazolis the night before to carb load, and I don’t have any soda.”

Favorite athlete: “Usain Bolt”
Role model: “My parents (Apolinary and Tiffany Pulkowski) because they’re shown me how to do things right.”
Best advice: “Don’t think you’ll just automatically be good or that greatness will come to you. Work hard for it. and you’ll become amazing.”
Athletics goal: “To beat my (personal records) in track.”
If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Cozumel or The Bahamas because I’ve been to both places, and I could really live there for awhile.”

Hannah Stair // Columbus Christian senior volleyball player
Stair totaled 40 kills, four assists, one block, 41 digs and 17 aces last week to help the Crusaders make the NACA Division I bracket, where she was named to the All-Tournament team.
Her performance last week: “I think as a team, we all went out there and played our best. Personally, I went out there working as hard as I could because I knew that was going to be the end of my high school career.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “As a team, we do a devotion, which really helps my mindset, and then, I always pepper and warmup with Kayla (Jones) before the games.”
Favorite drink: “Dr. Pepper”
Favorite food: “Steak”
Favorite class: “Physics and Spanish”
Favorite sports team: “Indiana University volleyball”
Favorite athlete: “Kerri Walsh-Jennings”
Role model: “(Former assistant coach) Rachel Fox”
Best advice: “Always work your hardest, and give the glory to God.”
Athletics goal: “To finish out my senior year strong with softball.”
If you could travel anywhere: “I would go to Maldives because it looks really gorgeous there and really relaxing.”
