COLUMBUS, Ind. — A local man with a warrant for his arrest was apprehended by Columbus police officers after he attempted to flee from them on foot Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 5:35 p.m., CPD officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the area of 10th Street and Chestnut Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. When officers arrived in the area, they observed Cody J. Spencer, 24, of Columbus, walking in the roadway screaming obscenities.
The officers confirmed a local warrant for Spencer’s arrest and observed him fleeing on foot towards a nearby alley. The officers ordered Spencer to stop running, however, he refused to do so, Harris said. Spencer was apprehended a short time later and taken into custody.
After being transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for medical clearance, Spencer was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and for the Bartholomew County warrant.
