COLUMBUS
Robert “Bob” S. Uphaus, 80, of Columbus, passed from this life November 8, 2020 at his home, surrounded by family.
Bob was born May 23, 1940, in Batesville, Indiana, the son of Arno and Gladys Uphaus. On November 21, 1964, he married Linda Lou Metz.
Mr. Uphaus served in the Air Force Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1962 after two years of service. He and Linda moved to Columbus where he worked as a machine repairman at Cummins Engine Company from 1964 until his retirement in 2003. A hard working man of few words, Bob, enjoyed watching I.U. basketball in his spare time.
Survivors include his children, Angela (Mark Winterberg) Heiner of Columbus, Robert “Rob” (Jenny) Uphaus of North Vernon, David Uphaus, also of Columbus; grandchildren, Sawyer (Kara) Hankins, Alexa (Jake) Friedly, Rylee (Jake) Carlile, Ariel Walters, Maddison Uphaus, Ty Uphaus; great-grandchildren, Hazel Hankins, Harper London; sister, Marian (Shell) Wilson of Batesville; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; brother, Russell Uphaus and sister, Janet.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and there are no services scheduled at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
