Around Town – November 12

Orchids to …

• Shirley and Tom Brown for the wonderful veterans card, from Marilyn and Greg.

• Brennan from Columbus City Utilities for coming out so quickly in the rain and darkness to fix our water issue.

• Joe Biden for showing class in his winning this presidential election.

• all those who worked the polls and officials, both Republican and Democrat, to give us a free and fair election.

• Al Gore, George HW Bush, and Jimmy Carter who manned up and conceded elections in the interest of the nation.

• President Trump, after everything is said and done, maybe we’ll see him running for the Senate.

• the people who voted out the worst president ever.

• National Guard personnel who are serving in our health care facilities throughout the state, especially at Silver Oaks, for the great job they are doing.

Onions to …

• a health care system that has had eight months to prepare for a second wave of virus.

• those who think the next administration is going to attack COVID-19 differently when the strategy is the same one used now.

• approving three consecutive nights of fireworks until 10 p.m. with no regard for those of us who work on weekends and must get up early.

• the federal elected official and his administration for the path of self destruction they have led, and continue to lead, this country down.

• money being raised for voting challenges instead used to pay off campaign debts.

• lack of observing and celebrating important holidays over non-important ones.

• everyone thinking life is rainbows and unicorns after the election.

• emergency siren roaring by the house at 6:35 a.m. waking everyone up.

• any and all members of the federal elected official’s political party who stand by and watch the sham he is promoting in denying the election results.

• those who won’t let themselves see that this country is free-wheeling downhill due to lack of leadership for the last four years.

• those that never tell us how many COVID-19 patients survive or have no symptoms at all.

• photos of inmates not wearing masks and yet we wonder why the numbers keep going up.

• people who haven’t figured out when you become a multi-county monopoly, it’s very easy to get overwhelmed in a crisis.

• the federal elected official who (unlike all presidents before him) will not concede his election loss when there is no evidence of fraud.

• the federal elected official irresponsibly living it up on the golf course while the pandemic rages and minions are scrambling to concoct ways to overturn the will of the people and election results.

• all so-called “Christians” who voted for any candidate belonging to the godless political party.

• the federal elected official’s derogatory comments about Hispanics.

• the federal elected official trying to take away health care for 100 million Americans who have pre-existing conditions.

• the federal official denigrating FBI lifelong career prosecutors who care deeply about that bright line between politics and the justice department.

• former constitutional conservatives who now are only members of a personality cult.

• all those who voted for the bumbling candidate simply because they hate the other one.

• those who think they’re going to stay in office.

Happy Birthday to …

• Grace Sparks.

• Gwen, from your son.

• Dad, from me.

Happy Anniversary to …

• Joe and Jamie Turner, from your family.
