A record crowd of 556 people, nearly 100 more than ever, raised a possible record $115,500 for the Volunteers in Medicine clinic at its 15th annual reverse raffle at Holiday Inn.

Acting on a tip, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s detectives recovered about $40,000 worth of construction equipment, including a backhoe, a loader, a Bobcat, a trailer and thousands of dollars worth of tools, stolen during the summer months from locations around the county and southern Indiana.

Construction began on the city’s first Ayr-Way store which was to include a tire and auto store, a garden and patio shop and a general discount store offering food and merchandise for men, women, children and the home.
