Staff Reports

Family School Partners and Children Inc. Learning Center have decided to cancel its popular Dancing with the Stars … Columbus Style for 2021 due to concerns about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Instead, the organizations are asking those who support this event annually to consider a donation to help the agencies serve local families with young children.

The two organizations have been working tirelessly to provide services to families and children during the pandemic, representatives of both organizations said.

Children Inc. Learning Center has remained open to provide child care for essential workers. Family School Partners have been assisting many community agencies in communicating health, safety and basic need information to local Hispanic families.

Dancing with the Stars … Columbus Style is the premier fundraising event for the two organizations. At the event, a community celebrity is paired with a dancer to perform and compete, providing a fun-filled entertaining event.

In 12 years, Dancing with the Stars … Columbus Style has raised more than $925,000, with proceeds split evenly between the two organizations.

Since 1968, Children Inc. has offered a community child care program providing loving care, a safe environment, nourishing food and a program geared to the educational, social, emotional and physical needs of children and families seeking affordable child care.

Family School Partners is in its 32nd year of serving parents with at-risk children from birth to age 5, providing free home-based education opportunities to promote early intervention and increase family stability.

The two organizations hope those who were planning on participating in the 2021 event or attending the event will donate to support this effort. To donate, go to http://dwtscolumbus.com/ and click on the COVID donation button.

The organizations are already planning for the 2022 event, they said.
