Olympians take third

NEW ALBANY — Columbus East, which was missing some of its top swimmers because of contact tracing, finished third out of six teams in Tuesday’s New Albany Relays.

Floyd Central won the meet with 79 points. Jeffersonville finished second with 64, and the Olympians scored 42.

East finished third in the 800-yard freestyle relay (10:40.92), 100 freestyle relay (1:01.01) and 250 freestyle crescendo relay (2:46.68).

Frogs fall to Flashes

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North opened its season with a 117-69 loss at Franklin Central.

The Bull Frogs had a pair of double winners. Riddhi Garg took the 50 freestyle (26.77) and 100 freestyle (59.22), and Adeline Rush captured the 100 butterfly (1:08.42) and 100 backstroke (1:05.48).

Paige Maddox finished second in the 200 freestyle (2:10.28) and 500 freestyle (5:47.38), and Paige Sherlock took second in the 200 individual medley (2:26.62) and 100 breaststroke (1:17.43). North was second in the 200 medley (2:02.44), 200 freestyle (1:49.86) and 400 freestyle (4:09.12) relays.

GCA ousts Lancers

GREENWOOD — Edinburgh opened its season with a 68-31 loss at Greenwood Christian Academy in the opening round of the Johnson County Tournament.

Gracie Crawhorn led the Lancers with 12 points.

Braves top Trinity

BROWNSTOWN — Brownstown Central used a 14-2 run over the final 3½ minutes of the third quarter to break open a close game and pull away for a 58-44 win against Trinity Lutheran.

Sydney Jaynes led the Cougars (1-1) with 18 points.
