COLUMBUS, Ind. — Due to the sharp increase in COVID cases in the county, the Bartholomew County
Public Library will close to patron foot traffic effective Friday.
This includes the Main Library and the Hope Branch Library.
Bookmobile/Book Express stops will be altered on a case by case basis. Bookmobile
patrons can call 812-379-1278 or email [email protected] for more
information.
All library lending is available via curbside pickup and returns must go to the book drop.
Those wishing materials are encouraged to place holds via the library’s online catalog
or the Bartholomew County Public Library app. Staff will gather the books and take
them to the main circulation desk. When you arrive to pick up your materials, park in the
designated spots for curbside service, call the posted phone number and staff will
deliver your materials to your vehicle.
Main library patrons can also call the Reference Desk at 812-379-1266 or email
[email protected] to place requests for materials. Main library patrons wishing
materials from the Children’s Department should call 812-379-1288 or email
[email protected]. Teen materials, please call 812-379-1289 or
[email protected].
Hope patrons can call 812-546-5310 or email [email protected].
Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the wide array of digital materials
available through the library. Read books, magazines, and comic books, or watch
movies, just by using your library card. Go to mybcpl.org and look for Digital Resources.
Individuals can also obtain a Digital Library Card to access digital materials only.

for those wishing to know about home deliveries of items. Currently this service is also
available to those quarantining at home, or those at high risk for the virus.
Curbside pickup will be available at the main library from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and at Hope, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
