About 40 Columbus East and North high school students visited area fifth-grade classrooms to explain tobacco’s harmful effects and why they didn’t smoke as part of the American Cancer Society’s 35th annual Great American Smokeout.

1995

Nearly 400 Richards Elementary School students gathered behind the school with teachers, administrators and parents for a ground-breaking ceremony for the school’s $6.5 million expansion.

Columbus’ two banking institutions, First National Bank and Irwin Union Bank and Trust Co., announced a total of $350,000 had been mailed to Christmas club members.
