State: 6,059 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health today announced that 6,059 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 312,521 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 5,232 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 63 from the previous day. Another 266 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 2,126,395 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 2,107,744 on Tuesday. A total of 4,038,194 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26.

Bartholomew County reported 3,168 positive tests (up 83) with 63 deaths (up one) on Wednesday.

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 2,155 positive cases (up 32) with 34 deaths (up one).
  • Jennings County: 853 positive cases (up 21) with 14 deaths (no change).
  • Decatur County: 1,261 positive cases (up 16) with 43 deaths (no change).
  • Shelby County: 1,821 positive cases (up 39) with 55 deaths (up one).
  • Johnson County: 6,389 positive cases (up 159) with 165 deaths (no change).
  • Brown County: 342 positive cases (up six) with four deaths (up one).
