State: 5,700 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health today announced that 5,700 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 387,278 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 5,986 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 42 from the previous day. Another 298 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 2,323,969 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 2,309,879 on Sunday. A total of 4,614,540 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26.

Bartholomew County reported 4,131 positive tests (up 62) with 68 deaths (no change) on Monday.

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 2,907 positive cases (up 79) with 38 deaths (no change).
  • Jennings County: 1,195 positive cases (up 19) with 18 deaths (no change).
  • Decatur County: 1,604 positive cases (up 26) with 46 deaths (no change).
  • Shelby County: 2,394 positive cases (up 36) with 63 deaths (no change).
  • Johnson County: 8,481 positive cases (up 150) with 152 deaths (up one).
  • Brown County: 478 positive cases (up 17) with six deaths (no change).
