BUTLERVILLE
Donald Ray Brooks, 67, of Butlerville, passed away at 1:17 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020, at his residence.
Born May 12, 1953, in Seymour, he was the son of Dorothy Jean (Koelmel) Brooks and the late Vernon “Bud” Brooks. He married Delberta Vincent on July 13, 1974, at the Rush Branch Methodist Church in Jennings County; she survives.
Donald was a 1971 graduate of Jennings County High School and was self-employed in lawn care. He had previously worked for True Temper for 3 years in North Vernon and was a farmer. He was a member of Graham Baptist Church in Jennings County and a former member of the NRA. Donald enjoyed hunting, playing softball, hunting for arrowheads, meeting friends at McDonalds and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Delberta Brooks of Butlerville; sons, Jeremiah Brooks and Joshua Brooks, both of Butlerville; daughter, Dawn (Ron) Cohee of Butlerville; mother, Dorothy Brooks of Butlerville; brother, Jack (Nancy) Brooks of North Vernon; sisters, Norma (Walter) Pressler of Indianapolis and Mary Jo Brooks of Scottsburg; and grandchildren, Christian Brooks, Casey Brooks, Conner Brooks, Camryn Brooks, Skyler Cohee and Ashton Cohee, all of Butlerville.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, James Brooks.
A funeral service for Donald will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the Graham Baptist Church in Jennings County with the Rev. Jerry Maynard officiating. Family and friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Graham Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to help with expenses or to Graham Baptist Church.
