The following closings have been announced for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Columbus has set its holiday trash collection schedule. For New Year’s Eve on Thursday, collections for trash and recycling are on schedule. Offices are closed and will reopen on Monday. For New Year’s Day, which is Friday, there will be no collections. Normal collections for this day will be picked up on Saturday.
City crews will pick up residential Christmas trees curbside (no alleys) the same day as regular trash collection. Call-ins will not be accepted and collections will not be done on private streets. All trees (not in bags) must be free of ornaments, hooks, stands and nails and placed at curbside.
The Columbus City Utilities office will be closed Thursday and Friday. Regular business hours will resume at the drive-up window on Monday, at 8 a.m. If you have a problem with your water or sewer service, call the business office at 812-372-8861 and follow the prompts.
Due to the recent spike in COVID cases in Bartholomew County, city buildings will remain closed to the public through Jan. 31. Columbus City Hall is closed Thursday and Friday for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
