State: 7,344 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health today announced that 7,344 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 546,499 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 8,452 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 81 from the previous day. Another 371 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 2,710,638 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 2,694,585 on Wednesday. A total of 5,950,922 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26.

Bartholomew County reported 5,801 positive tests (up 63) with 89 deaths (corrected total from state) as of Thursday.

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 3,940 positive cases (up 52) with 45 deaths (up one).
  • Jennings County: 1,775 positive cases (up 24) with 34 deaths (no change).
  • Decatur County: 2,257 positive cases (up 39) with 78 deaths (no change).
  • Shelby County: 3,692 positive cases (up 66) with 75 deaths (no change).
  • Johnson County: 13,170 positive cases (up 257) with 255 deaths (up one).
  • Brown County: 790 positive cases (up two) with 27 deaths (up 16).
