Connie Martin promises to share “info you will not soon forget” when she makes her virtual presentation “Pre-Civil War Quilts: Secret Codes to Freedom on the Underground Railroad” at 6 p.m. Feb. 2 via Zoom for the Bartholomew County Public Library. Martin incorporates storytelling with a display and explanation of 18 hand-crafted quilt replicas. The quilts represent patterns and special stitching used by abolitionists and fugitive slaves to signify escape routes to the North. Martin’s presentation is based upon her mother’s book: “Lizzie’s Story: A Slave Family’s Journey to Freedom,” by Dr. Clarice Boswell. Information and event registration: mybcpl.org.
