Four Morgantown residents arrested on drug-related charges

Four Morgantown residents were arrested on multiple drug-related charges after Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies were called to the 10300 block of North U.S. 31 on a welfare check at 11:05 p.m. Sunday.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Grant Carlson was sent on the welfare check, where Deputy Dustin Newland and Carlson found a male and also a female holding a bag of narcotics inside a hotel room, deputies said.

After receiving a search warrant, deputies located multiple drug-related items inside the hotel room, including about 6 grams of heroin, approximately 3 grams of methamphetamine and syringes.

Room renters, Darrell Hayworth, 59, Morgantown, and Beth Hayworth, 59, Morgantown, were taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of syringes, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of a controlled substance, deputies said.

Darrell Hayworth was being held in jail in lieu of $142,500 bond, jail officials said. Beth Hayworth was being held in jail in lieu of $127,500 bond, jail officials said.

Darrell Hayworth Jr., 36, Morgantown, and Kelsey Wootton, 26, Morgantown, were arrested on a preliminary charge of visiting a common nuisance, deputies said. Both were released from the Bartholomew County Jail with bond set at $3,500 each, jail officials said.
