The world lost a loving wife and mother on January 18, 2021. Glenda S. Meyer, 65, passed away peacefully at her home.
Glenda was born August 17, 1955 in Bartholomew County, Columbus, Indiana. She is the daughter of the late William and Gladys Bay VanArsdale. On September 5, 1981, she married Walter H. Meyer.
A 1975 graduate of Columbus North High School, she worked at Columbus Regional Hospital for over 12 years with her most enjoyable nursing career spent in the birthing center. A strong woman with a big heart, Glenda enjoyed helping others and making those around her smile and laugh. She was the proud mother of a daughter Jennifer Meyer and proud nanny to Hunter Smith, Madelyn Sanders and step-grandchildren Taylor and Braden Spears. Spending time with her grandchildren meant the world to her.
Survivors include her husband of over 39 years, Walter; children, Brandon D. Spears of Columbus, Jennifer Meyer of Taylorsville; 4 grandchildren and sister, Patricia Ann Brown, also of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William VanArsdale; aunts, Bonnie Brown, Bettie Dynes; uncles, John Bay and Floyd Bay.
Visitation will be held on Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place after the visitation. There will be no formal funeral service. Due to pandemic restrictions, we are limited to 50 people in our funeral home. We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
Inurnment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
