Margaret “Katherine” Litzy, 86, of North Vernon, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at Columbus Transitional Care in Columbus.

Born May 18, 1934, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Frances and Geneva (Dixon) VanCleave.

Katherine retired in 1997 from the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, where she had worked for 33 years as an attendant and in the dietary department. She was a member of 2nd United Methodist Church and a member of the Missionary Women’s Group. Katherine enjoyed working word search puzzles.

Survivors include her son, Steve (Patty) Litzy of North Vernon; daughters, Peggy Sanders and Lisa (Reggie) McNeil, both of Columbus, Carmen (Earl) Pinkette of Georgia, Angela Litzy and Detra Brown, both of North Vernon; brother, Roger Dixon of Columbus; sister, Jocelyn Flippins of Columbus; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Francis “Curtis” Litzy; brothers, Ricky Dixon and Moses Chapman Taylor; sister, Dorice Staten; and grandson, Steven Litzy.

A funeral service for Katherine will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Katherine through the funeral home to the Alzheimer’s Association.
