COLUMBUS, Ind. — The race for tickets to a fundraiser for the Tony Stewart Foundation and the Crump Theatre is over. And the Saturday masked and socially-distanced local event is sold out at a pandemic-limited 200 people.

But there could be future such events, organizers say. Plus, local residents will be able to bid on silent auction items online Saturday via local auctioneer Mike Mensendieck. Those items are expected to include artwork of the Crump.

The 5 p.m. gathering, “Tap Into the ’20s,” has been moved from a planned tent on the Crump property to the Havoc Sportz building at 4555 Kelly St. on the city’s north side. Organizers wanted to provide more room for social distancing and safety.

“We’ll be able to spread out a lot more and better protect all our guests and volunteers,” said foundation director Erica Raisor.

But she acknowledged that interest in the event still was building when the maximum number of sold tickets was reached.

“We probably could have doubled that number,” Raisor said.
