Guy, Knights fall, but headed to NAIA tourney

INDIANAPOLIS — Imani Guy led Marian with 24 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and four blocks Monday night, but the Knights fell to Indiana Wesleyan 77-67 in the championship game of the Crossroads League Tournament.

Guy, a senior from Columbus North, scored seven points and led Marian with eight rebounds in Friday’s 87-75 semifinal win against Mt. Vernon Nazarene. She had led the Knights with 15 points nine rebounds and two steals in an 84-55 first-round win against Grace.

Fourth-ranked Marian (26-5) will host a first-round NAIA Tournament game next week. The pairings will be released on Thursday.

Last week, Guy was named Crossroads League Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks after leading the Knights with 25 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in a 92-49 win against Mt. Vernon Nazarene.

Gross, ONU fall in final. await at-large bid

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Alex Gross recorded 24 points, seven rebounds and seven assists Monday night, but Olivet Nazarene fell to IU-South Bend 76-75 on a last-second 3-pointer in the championship game of the CCAC Tournament.

Gross, a junior from Hauser, led the Tigers with 29 points, 19 rebounds and five assists in Saturday’s 81-66 semifinal win against Governors State. On Thursday, Gross scored 21 points and led Olivet with eight rebounds and five blocks in a 101-74 first-round win against Trinity International.

The Tigers (15-4) now must hope for a potential at-large berth to the NAIA Tournament.
