Around Town – March 4

Orchids to …

• those who realize Texas refineries being shut down due to weather is a big reason why gas prices are going up.

• the Sunday editorial on Riverfront project compromise, it’s time to distinguish between needs and wants.

• the Biden administration for being laser-focused on the immediate issues facing us and demonstrating what governing looks like.

• the justice department for expanding the number of lawyers and investigators devoted to cases of domestic terrorism.

• local state legislators for standing up against nonsensical liberal rhetoric even if it cost them political brownie points.

• Columbus Regional Hospital for my outpatient surgery.

• Dian Turner for taking me to the hospital for a test, from Linda.

• Americans who are resisting the lies and deception of a golden god with mind, spirit, and soul.

• the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. superintendent and school board for the resolution supporting public schools while our legislators continue to undermine more than 90% of the children with their legislation.

• David Brown for being so helpful solving the email issue.

• Carol and Don Pope for all you do for us, from the Bautes.

Onions to …

• whoever thinks it’s the United States’ responsibility to take in the whole world’s poor.

• the legislation that includes tax money to build a 6-mile tunnel in California.

• the local elected officials who claim to care about kids, but advocate and vote for projects that directly hurt the children of the working class.

• people so frightened they announce for me to stay 6 feet away, maybe you need to stay home.

• gas stations not keeping receipt paper in their pumps, requiring customers to come into building, increasing risk of COVID-19 transmission.

• not having a Popeyes restaurant.

• the new leader who wants to salvage Obamacare.

• those not admitting it’s not only safer and more efficient to only give one vaccine but more profitable.

• all the drivers on National Road driving like they’re still on the highway at 55 and 60 mph both ways.

• the anger and hatred against liberals fueled by the cancel culture.

• all the squeaky wheels getting greased.

• the boys organization in bankruptcy continuing to require a certain religious belief for membership.

• those who let people with money dictate what goes on in our town, especially those responsible for taking a beautiful old building and redoing it into something ugly.

• those who participated in Capitol riot, hopefully they will spend a long time in jail and realize they were manipulated and bamboozled.

• those who say “blue lives matter,” unless they were members of the Capitol Hill or D.C. police forces who battled the insurgents on Jan. 6.

• the political party that is now a far right political party and says that violence is an acceptable recourse to solve your problems.

• the political party choosing loyalty to one man over the core principals of its party and the founders of our great nation.

• conservatives blaming liberals for things that are not true and they know it, like the Washington Redskins changing their name.

• the city that does nothing about the panhandlers.

• the handyman who overcharged the senior citizen for a minor job.
