Patberg named to All-B1G second team
Indiana University senior Ali Patberg has been named to the All-Big Ten second team for women’s basketball.
Patberg, a Columbus North graduate, averaged 14.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists during the regular season while leading the Hoosiers to an 18-4 record, including a program-best 16-2 in the Big Ten. This is the third All-Big Ten selection for Patberg, who also is on the 2021 Nancy Lieberman Top 10 Watch List, the 2021 Jersey Mikes Naismith Trophy Top 50, the 2020 Wade Trophy Watch List and 2021 Wooden Award Watch List.
IU sophomore Mackenzie Holmes and junior Grace Berger made the All-Big Ten first team, and Holmes made the All-Defensive team. Junior Aleksa Gulbe made All-Big Ten honorable mention, and senior Keyanna Warthen was the team’s Sportsmanship Award honoree.

Meyer picks up pair of victories
EVANSVILLE — Jakob Meyer earned pitching victories on back-to-back days for Evansville over the weekend.
Meyer, a redshirt freshman from Columbus North, picked up the victory in a 3-2 win against Western Illinois in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. He earned another win in Sunday’s 10-inning 11-10 victory against the Leathernecks.
Meyer now is 2-0 with two saves in 7.2 innings pitched in five appearances this season.
Major catches TD pass in DePauw win
DELAWARE, Ohio — Josh Major caught a 3-yard touchdown pass Saturday to help DePauw to a season-opening 35-21 win at Ohio Wesleyan.
Major, a junior from Columbus East, finished with 62 yards receiving on a team-high five catches. He also returned a kickoff 21 yards and two punts for 12 yards.
Hunter records interception in win
FORT WAYNE — Damon Hunter Jr. intercepted a pass late in St. Francis’ 24-10 season-opening win against Taylor on Saturday.
Hunter, a junior from Columbus North, also had a tackle for the Cougars.
