INDIANAPOLIS — The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Flood Warning for the following waterways in Indiana: Sugar Creek, Driftwood River, Wildcat Creek and Wabash River.
Additional flooding is expected to begin shortly across Sugar Creek near Edinburgh, the Driftwood River near Edinburgh, Wildcat Creek near Lafayette, and the Wabash River near Covington and Mount Carmel. This flooding is a result of around 2 inches of rain that fell Wednesday night and Thursday. Flooding will be brief along the smaller creeks and last well into next week along the Wabash River.
For the Driftwood River, flooding is expected from now until Sunday morning. The river was at 10.5 feet Friday morning and flood stage is 11 feet. The Driftwood is expected to rise above flood stage on Friday to a crest of 11.4 feet Saturday morning, and then falling below flood stage Saturday night.
